eBook Announcement

Information on technical problems associated with accessing eBooks - 9 Jan., 2009

If you are reliant on accessing your course materials from an eBook using MyScribe you may continue to experience difficulties getting it to operate correctly. Our online information technology personnel are working closely with the MyScribe vendor to resolve these issues. An announcement should soon be posted to your eCollege home page informing you of the progress of this work and we hope that within 24 hours everybody will have smooth access to all the readings required for your courses. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you and we assure you that DeVry instructors and staff will do everything in their power to help you recover from these inconveniences.

As of January, 2009, all online courses will be using a new platform for eBook delivery called MyScribe. This new technology will replace the previous eBook platform, Adobe Digital Editions.

The following document will prove very useful in transitioning to the new eBook platform:

It is very important to note that MyScribe only allows you to download your eBook to three (3) different computers. As a result, we have setup dedicated download stations for the MyScribe software in Lab 215 and the SRC. The MyScribe software will not be installed on other lab computers. This will help ensure that you do not unwittingly download your eBooks on multiple lab computers and use up your download allotment.

We strongly suggest that you utilise the Copy MyScribe to USB Drive feature. This will allow you to copy the MyScribe reader and your eBooks to a USB drive, and then use this USB drive at multiple computers without affecting your download allotment. A 2GB USB drive is recommended for this use.
